Aster Prime has a patient friendly Cardiac Intensive Care Unit of 8 beds and a cardiac cath hold area of 4 beds. Cardiac Cath lab is equipped with Philips Allura Centrom cath lab, Intravascular Ultrasound-iFR machine from Philips-Volcano, Rotablator from Boston Scientific. Non-Invasive labs are equipped with Philips echo machine, trans esophageal echo and stress echo. We have facilities for stress ECG, Holter, 24 hour Ambulatory BP monitoring, Head Up Tilt test, patch ECG for long-term ECG monitoring. National Board of Examinations accredits the center for DNB training in Cardiology and by Texila University for PGDCC in Cardiology.
Angioplasty-stent procedures’ expertise:
Dr C Raghu at this unit performs 600-700 angioplasty and stent procedures with 99% success and complication rate of less than 0.5%. Combined with his work at out-reach cath labs he personally performs 1200-1300 angioplasty procedures annually. He routinely performs complex angioplasty procedures deemed unsuitable for surgery at other centers. Imaging guided “precision angioplasty” performed in a quarter of cases and 12% of his procedures are performed with Rotablation. We use US FDA approved stents at our centers.
CHIP angioplasty is a forte of Dr C Raghu as he performs Chronic total occlusion angioplasty with more than 90% success and he is available 24/7 for taking up patients is cardiogenic shock (low BP and heart attack. Elderly patients (>80 years) and those with renal failure account for 5% of cases.
Dr C Raghu has been accredited to perform Trans catheter Aortic Valve Replacement. He has performed TAVR where the patient underwent prior surgical mitral valve replacement.
Balloon valvotomy for mitral valve (PBMV/PTMC) expertise is limited as the reimbursement landscape in India is changing. We perform this procedure routinely as a life-changing procedure instead of surgical mitral valve replacement fraught with complexities.
Heart failure management is an area of expertise. We have successfully managed patients with medicines by optimizing medicines, identifying risk factors and worsening of heart failure, educating patients on heart failure and encouraging to adopt heart healthy life practices. Less than 5% of patients require ICD and CRT D in our practice, we are very particular in choosing right patient indications for these expensive therapies. Managing Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, a new disease entity, by incorporating latest medical research is a fond medical practice adopted at our center. Win over Heart Failure is a signature public health education program spearheaded by Dr C Raghu conducted annually.
Device closure for congenital heart defects – ASD, VSD and PDA is a routine procedure at our center. We have very high success rates and in this subset of cases we are particular about the right timing of procedure. We keep the procedure economical by using devices that are pocket friendly. Dr C Raghu has performed till date nearly 500 device closures with a need for emergency surgery in 0,2% and procedure success rate of 98%. Careful pre procedure workup by him personally ensures such high success rates.
Vascular problems – diabetic peripheral vascular disease, diabetic foot patients have been immensely helped with our Act against Amputation program. Every year we save 50-40 limbs from amputation thus saving lives.
