About Karamvir Banga Photography
Professional experience
Cinematographer. Filmmaker. Photographer. My first encounter, using one of these marvelous analog devices was during a family vacation, when my grandfather entrusted me with his Yashica Electro 35G Range-finder. To the naive thirteen year old back then, the camera was merely a toy, but I cannot deny the spark of happiness that shot through my body every time the shutter clicked. This delight to capture a memory forever evolved into a passion that in time nurtured my interest for photography, cinematography and documentary film-making. Upon the completion of my Bachelors degree, I decided to work as an apprentice under Mr. Ajay Chitnis, a reputed documentary film Producer and Director. I worked with him for 8 months as an Assistant Cameraman on the TV documentary series “Trailblazers”, which airs weekly on the Zee Business news channel nationwide. I worked on the Sony alpha A7S and Sony FS7 cameras shooting interviews on multi-cam set-ups and capturing candid moments of the places we visited. In 2016 I did a film making course at the Asian Academy of Film and Television(AAFT), in Camera and Lighting Techniques for Film under the guidance of Prof. Kalyan Sarkar, a renowned Cinematographer and the Dean of AAFT. The importance of visual juxtaposition for cinematic storytelling has begun to create a flow in the films I have recently shot. The Institute also taught me how to Light for indoor single camera and multi-camera shoots to create dynamic and dramatic lighting moods. I recently completed a Post-grad Diploma degree in Advanced Film and Television techniques at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. An exposure 16mm film formats and working with HD and Cine Digital cameras (Canon C300, RED and Sony F5). Dedicated sessions for Camera & Lighting and Documentary Film-making helped me to develop as a professional artist. Having experience working in the Indian and Canadian Film Industries I have got proficient in professional Camera, lighting and editing techniques for Film and Television. I believe there is an ocean of new learning opportunities in this ever evolving technological world today and I still have a long way to go. Collaborating with your Firm and upcoming projects will give me an opportunity to explore greater things in life.
